About Meta
The Meta token price index is $0.13 per 1M tokens today, unchanged since yesterday, unchanged over the past week and down 81.2% over the past month. Since Aug 6, 2026 it has ranged from $0.13 to $2.00. It is the usage-weighted average of the posted prices of Meta's model, blending 3 input tokens with 1 output token. It is calculated once a day, for each UTC day, shortly after the day ends.
Meta Platforms built the open-weight Llama models, downloaded more than a billion times by April 2025, and now sells its newer Muse models, built by Meta Superintelligence Labs, through the paid Meta Model API. Muse Spark was announced on April 8, 2026 and Muse Wonder, "our most capable models to date", on October 12, 2026. Meta also sells Muse Spark in a cheap "Contributor mode", which "runs the same models at heavily discounted token prices, in exchange for permission to use your content to train future Meta models".
Models and list prices

| Muse Spark 1.3, Contributor mode | $0.10 | $0.20 | $0.125 |
USD per 1M tokens on October 24, 2026, from Meta's Model API pricing page. Meta charges no long-context premium and lists no batch or priority tiers. Muse Spark is also released as open weights, called Muse Spark Open, which six hosts on OpenRouter sell at the same $1.25/$4.25.
What this index measures
Each day's value averages the prices Meta posts for its own models, weighted by each model's tokens in OpenRouter's daily rankings and blended at 3 input tokens to 1 output token.
In October 2026 most of Meta's ranked usage on OpenRouter was Contributor-mode Muse Spark, so the index usually sat at the Contributor price of $0.125, 16 times below the standard price. On days when standard Muse Spark also made OpenRouter's daily top 50, the index rose to between $0.34 and $0.77 in September and October 2026; on October 13, when Muse Wonder made it instead, it was $1.04. These jumps come from which models are counted, not from Meta changing prices. Llama models are not counted: Meta's Model API price list has only Muse models, and other hosts sell Llama at prices that vary several-fold, for example from $0.10 to $0.72 per million input tokens for Llama 3.3 70B.
What moves Meta's index
- Contributor versus standard use. Contributor mode is 92% cheaper on input and 95% cheaper on output than standard, so the share of each sets the index.
- Muse Wonder. At $4/$20, Muse Wonder costs 64 times the Contributor price on a 3:1 blend; any use of it raises the index sharply.
- New releases. Meta released Muse Spark 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 about a month apart; OpenRouter dates them July 9, August 5 and September 2, 2026.
Price history
This index's history for Meta starts on August 6, 2026, the first day one of its Muse models was among OpenRouter's 50 most-used; days when none was, as from August 7 to 22, 2026, are left empty under the index's rules.
FAQ
How much does Meta's API cost per million tokens? Muse Spark costs $1.25 input and $4.25 output in standard mode and $0.10 and $0.20 in Contributor mode; Muse Wonder costs $4 and $20, as in the table above.
Why does Meta's index jump up and down? It depends on which Muse models are among OpenRouter's top 50 that day. When only Contributor-mode Muse Spark is, the index equals the Contributor price of $0.125; standard Muse Spark or Muse Wonder lifts it.
How often is it updated? Once a day: each UTC day's value is calculated shortly after that day ends, from the day's OpenRouter volumes and the prices posted then. The site checks for new data every 2 to 3 hours.
